Saint Louis, Missouri, USA
Community Music School of Webster University

Description

This is a day camp in St. Louis for intermediate to advanced instrumentalists age 12 and older, with at least five years of playing experience. The Clazz String Intensive is designed to introduce classically-trained string players to the art of improvisation through the pedagogical ideals of jazz and musical languages from other cultures. This summer students will be exposed to jazz, blues, bluegrass, tango, and more. Students will be scheduled in group lessons, orchestra, and small combos each day. In the afternoons there will be jam sessions with guest artists. The five-day camp will culminate in student solo, combo, and orchestra performances. There will be ample practice time in the evening or to explore St. Louis if you are commuting. Faculty will include the Clazz Quartet and special guest artists.
